Who are we
Kia ora!
We are Jamie and Fletcher, the faces behind Ratuski. We are a couple who loves everything outdoors and we’ve always been passionate about the environment.
We’re both avid climbers, hikers and even enjoy some yoga among other things. We are devoted dog lovers and parents, I'm sure you have seen our little ginger dog Kiwi on the front page. Jamie works as a vet nurse, where her love for animals is obvious in the work she does. I work as an outdoor instructor, mainly working with youth inspiring and teaching them how to soak up the beauties of New Zealand.
Ratuski stared from humble beginnings, I brought home a retired climbing rope one day and next minute, Jamie is chopping it up to make Kiwi a lead. We had a few comments about how cool it was and we saw the opportunity to turn old climbing ropes into useful objects. In turn supporting the environment and giving us the opportunity to support local charities with proceeds from each lead.
There is so many great things to come from Ratuski and the buck sure doesn't just stop with dog leads. So thank you for joining us and we hope you will support us in supporting a cleaner greener Aotearoa.
Our Mission
At Ratuski, we’re on a mission to create sustainable, high-quality products while supporting our local community. Our journey begins with crafting dog leads from retired climbing gear specifically, climbing ropes that have reached the end of their climbing life. Each lead we produce carries the spirit of adventure, and we’re proud to give these materials a new purpose.
But our commitment doesn’t stop at sustainability. With every sale, we donate a percentage to vital community initiatives, including the Golden Bay Re-bolting Fund, support for pets in need, and local environmental restoration projects. We believe in giving back to the places we love and the people who share our passions.
Looking ahead, Ratuski aspires to expand our offerings to include climbing and pet apparel and gear, catering to adventurous spirits of all sizes. Our goal is to create a supportive community of like minded individuals dedicated to caring for the world around us.
